What is Eurax used for?

Eurax contains the active substance krotamiton and is an anticancer agent. Eurax is used for itching of various causes, such as itching of the rectum and genital organs of the elderly, itching of allergies and insect bites. You should contact a doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 7 days of treatment.

Please note that your doctor may prescribe the medicine for a different use and / or with a dose other than that given in the package leaflet. Always follow your doctor prescribing indicated on the pharmacy label. 1

Warnings and precautions

There are various warnings and precautions for using Eurax. For example, you can not use Eurax if you are allergic to krotamitone or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Other warnings and precautions:

  • Eurax is for external use only
  • Eurax should not come into contact with mucous membranes in the mouth, eyes or area around the eyes, fluid wounds or acute eczema. Wash your hands after you apply Eurax. In case of accidental contact with the eyes or the esophagus, rinse thoroughly with running water
  • In case of allergic skin reactions, treatment must be discontinued
  • Consult a doctor if the itching continues after 7 days of treatment

How do you use Eurax?

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

If you have taken too much medicine or if your child has accidentally taken a medicine, contact a doctor or hospital.

Side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Some side effects:

  • Problems with breathing or swallowing
  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat
  • Serious itch in the skin, with red rash or elevated unevenness

It can be a sign of a serious allergic reaction. If you experience any of this, stop taking your medicine and contact your doctor immediately.

Serious side effects:

  • Contact Allergies

Some side effects occur, but it is not known how frequent they occur:

  • Itch
  • Hypersensitivity reactions such as rash
  • Skin irritation
  • Redness of the skin
  • Eczema

Cautions

Do not use Eurax if you are allergic to krotamitone or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Urax should not come into contact with mucous membranes in the mouth, eyes or area around the eyes, fluid wounds or acute eczema. Wash your hands after applying Eurax. In case of accidental contact with the eyes or the esophagus, rinse thoroughly with running water. In case of allergic skin reactions, treatment must be discontinued. The cream should not be used to treat inflamed, fluid skin disorders. Consult a doctor if the itching continues after 7 days of treatment. Read the package leaflet carefully. 2
